"Let's do this" was the subject line of the best job offer ever.

I was getting ready to leave a corporate job that paid well but wasn't for me. (I've edited this several times and iterated with words like "soul sucking" and "corporate nightmare" but that seems rather dramatic, even for me. You can read between the lines. 👀 )

I had gotten job offers that paid less than my current salary, and I had opportunities to leave and work for amazing companies- but THIS offer met my salary expectations and was a job I was genuinely excited about.

I was sticking to my guns, that I should be paid what I'm making currently (or more) AND be treated well and have a job I liked. As it turns out, small software development agencies are AMAZING to work for and with.

I talk to people all the time who assume that they must make a choice: be paid well OR be happy and fulfilled. It's a myth!
