Sales and Tech: A New Era of Opportunity and Inclusion
Sales in the new era is equal parts hustle, innovation and technology. I'm excited. For those of us ready to change, the challenge presents an amazing opportunity to do business better than before.
On a long walk with my father, Jeff Quinto, recently, he compared the changing landscape today with what happened to open outcry trading pits when exchanges went digital. There was an impetus for change, (major) resistance to change, and then, finally, a radical change in the way trading is done forever.
It wasn't easy. French traders, for instance, went on strike to protest their exchanges going partially electronic, and came back to a 100% electronic exchange.
But out of the shift to electronic trading came a wave of inclusion: instead of being limited to people with enough money for a board seat and who were aggressive/tall/loud/able-bodied enough to be seen and heard in the pits, trading opened up to everyone. And waves of innovation: Algorithmic trading, access to worldwide exchanges, etc.
