Salary Negotiation Rule #2 Know your number. (2/5)

Before you even head into an interview, know the number that you want your salary to be. Don’t pick a figure on the low end of the industry rate because you think that’ll be more appealing to the employer. Pick the number you want and you know you deserve. It’s totally fine for this number to be high.

***If it makes you want to throw up in your purse, that’s your number. 🤮 👛 ***

Don’t wait for an employer or anyone else to tell you what that number should be. The employer would be perfectly happy to give you a lower salary. Instead, do your research to figure out the salary for people in the same position with the same level of experience as you. There are several online tools that can help you do this. Don’t lowball yourself.

You know what your unique skills and vast experience are. You're entitled to earn a salary that reflects those. Know your number, and ask for it.
